Working Music Top Six

I’ve been doing a little work lately and I’ve been building up a collection of albums which are pretty good to work to, from writing essays to designing posters:

6 Nickelback - The Long Road

A great album to listen to when working. When there is no need to rush, taking it easy with no need to concentrate too hard, then the rock ‘n’ roll guitar lines and the melodic breakdowns are a great mix.

5 Amy MacDonald - This Is The Life

Working late, pace slowing down? Well a cup of tea and a few tracks from this album help me keep a steady pace, without getting distracted too much. It’s a nice way to finish of the evening work before going off to bed.

4 Coldplay - Parachutes

A great blend of relaxing vocals for an early morning start. Not the greatest to actually work with but good to wake up to and get in gear. Also goes well with Coldplay songs on the Radio 1 live lounge.

3 Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

One of my most favorite albums. This album jumps from atmospheric music to powerful guitar riffs. When having trouble concentrating for long periods this album gives a good broad spectrum of interesting sounds to adjust to.

Stephen Fretwell - Magpie

This is great album to pace yourself with for many hours of work. Working constantly requires a relaxed and clam workspace, with this album playing quietly in the background it does help keep a sense of calmness minimizing stress.

1 Battlestar Galactica - OST (Seasons Two & Three)

The songs on these two albums are amazing. They bring atmospheric music to its absolute best. They have a great mix from quiet calm tunes to more epic drum based songs. These albums are excellent to play throughout the day, they change in emphasis so often that an intense long day of working is made that little bit more bearable. Conducted and produced by one of my favorite musical talents Bear McCreary.

This is my workspace soundtrack quite the variety, however when working variety is needed else the mind wonders. Music defines how I work, maybe you don’t like playing music maybe you do so what’s your top six if you have one? all opinions are welcome.
